What People Say
We are delighted that following their recent visit (October 2024), Ofsted confirmed that St Giles has maintained the standards identified at the previous inspection.
Pupils delight in attending this friendly school (and) uphold the school’s value of nurture well... this contributes to a culture where pupils feel part of the school family.
Ofsted Report October 2024
This was the first return visit since our inspection in April 2019 when the school was judged to be GOOD in all areas. The report recognised the tireless work that goes on across the whole school to provide all our pupils with a good standard of education and there were many key strengths. Some areas that make us very proud include:
- “The school is ambitious for its pupils, and most pupils rise to meet the high expectations set.”
- “Pupils develop a broad range of knowledge across the curriculum.”
- "Teachers support pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) well.”
- “The school has a keen focus on improving pupils’ reading. Teachers support pupils who fall behind in their reading to catch up quickly. As a result, pupils swiftly learn to read and develop a love of reading.”
- “Teachers motivate pupils to learn. They ensure what pupils learn is relevant and interesting.”
You can read the Ofsted report in full from the link at the bottom of the page.
The sense of community, the pride and care the students show each other is absolutely second to none, and highly valued.
Parent Comment Summer 2024
We are delighted that the results from Parent View support those shared in our annual parents and carers survey. The responses received were incredibly positive.
It is clearly felt by families that:
- Children are happy and well behaved at St Giles (92% agreed or strongly agreed);
- Pupils feel safe at school (94%);
- There is a good range of subjects available (i.e. the curriculum has not been narrowed) and children can take part in clubs and activities (92 & 95%);
- Children do well at this school (90%); and
- 92% would recommend St Giles to another parent.
This strengthens the recognition received following our last Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) in June 2018 when St Giles CE Primary School was also judged to be a GOOD school.
The school’s reaffirmation of its Christian vision and values which are central to all aspects of school life and impact positively on the school’s distinctive Christian character.
