Governors

The school governing body is responsible for working with the school to ensure it delivers a good quality Christian education and to assist in setting the strategic direction of the school.

Together with the headteacher who is responsible for the school’s day-to-day management, the governors set the school’s aims, policies and provide checks and balances over the running of the school.

The key roles of the governing body in St Giles are:

  • To ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • To hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
  • To oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure its money is well spent.

Who are our governors?

The governors at St Giles consist of representatives from the wider school community – the church, parents, staff and the local authority as well as governors with particular expertise in certain areas.

Our co-chair of governors are Helen Jones and Xanthe Holloway.  Our vice chair is Jen Herridge. The governing body meets once every half term as a full board.

The Governors Roles and Responsibilities can be found here.

Each governor has key responsibilities that they carry out and report back at our full board meetings. In addition to various statutory committees, we also have a Resources Committee which deals with school finance, premises and health and safety.
