School Games Gold Award 2023-2024
We are delighted to announce that we, St Giles Primary School, have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award again for the 2023/24 academic year.
The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
Our sporting achievements this year include taking part in a wide range of inter-school competitions and matches. We have attended and many sporting events including cross country running, swimming, football, netball, cricket, hockey and multi sports. A total of 95% of KS2 pupils and all of our KS1 have taken part in one or more of these events. We are extremely proud of our pupils for their enthusiasm and dedication to all aspects of school sport, including our sports crew and teachers who made it all possible. As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year. Thank you to everyone involved. As this is our fourth year in a row of gaining Gold, we are eligible to go for the Platinum Award this year. We know that Miss Hakimi has lots of lovely ideas for PE this year and we will be once again joining other schools for NEARs events. We are looking forward to seeing what this year will bring!
